Mykola Tomenko, Deputy Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, addressed Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov as to the reorganization of the National Research Institute of Ukrainian Studies in the domain of the Ministry of Education and Science, Youth and Sports of Ukraine.
The Deputy Chairman reminded that according to the Decree of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine of January 5, 2011, the National Research Institute of Ukrainian Studies is reorganized into the National Research Institute of Ukrainian Studies and World History. The Decree of the President of Ukraine of March 10, 2011 keeps the status of ‘national´ for the Research Institute of Ukrainian Studies and World History, which is set up due to reorganization of the National Research Institute of Ukrainian Studies.
M.Tomenko stressed that reorganization of the foregoing establishment takes place with gross violations of the law. He received numerous letters concerning non-fulfillment of the Decrees of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine by the Ministry of Education and Science, Youth and Sports of Ukraine.
"The National Research Institute of Ukrainian Studies is actually destroyed under the Decree of the Ministry," M.Tomenko stated. There is neither an academic concept of reorganizing the Research Institute of Ukrainian Studies into the Research Institute of Ukrainian Studies and World History, nor the Decree on setting up another academic establishment. M.Tomenko also stressed that future of the personnel of the Institute also remains unclear.
